We’ve got a busy Saturday ahead! In addition to our Spaces and Traces 2013 tours throughout the day, MCHS will also be hosting Yelp’s Second Annual Brew City Bash! Yelp has put together a truly impressive roster of activities for all attendees. It should be a blast, but don’t take our word for it. Here’ a description of the event, in Yelp’s own words:
Don your best Gatsby-era garb for Yelp’s Brew City Bash II: 100 Years of Cream City History! We’re celebrating the Milwaukee County Historical Society’s centennial anniversary by bringing the jazz age to life for an evening of drinks, bites, music, and revelry on May 18 from 8-10p. This swanky soirée is free for the 21+ crowd. Just RSVP!
Dames and daddies alike will enjoy bites from MKE faves, like Maxie’s, Blue’s Egg, VIA Downer, Ono Kine Grindz, Rumpus Room, Susie Chen’s Potstickers, Rumpus Room, Simmer Soup Truck, Karma Bar & Grill, Times Square/Atomic Chocolates, Clock Shadow Creamery, and more!
Hooch? Why, of course. Amazing local juice joints Great Lakes Distillery and Bryant’s will be reppin’ with prohibition-era punches galore. Lakefront Brewery (the real McCoy of brews) will pour Wisconsinite, Lakefront IPA, and a special, limited-edition beer on the firkin! Sans booze, but still buzz-worthy is Cedarburg Coffee Roastery with light roasts and delightful pastries, while DRY Soda tickles your taste buds with their craft carbonation! Get your wiggle on with local quartet, The Scarring Party, and before you walk out the door, strike a pose in one of The Traveling Photo Booth.
This is sure to be a roarin’ good time, and to show just how classy we are, let’s spread the sophistication with five-buck donations to One Heartland and the Historical Society. One Heartland serves the community by helping kids with HIV/AIDS, poverty and other challenges, while the MCHS collects and preserves historic Milwaukee artifacts and educates the community about MKE history. So… are you ready to let your best Charleston rip? RSVP quick! Space is limited!
